Yesterday, I'm practicing my driving and I’m driving home, and I finally saw what I never wanted to see but could never avoid. A Tesla in front of me, with that stupid, holier than thou “Zero emissions” license plate on it. I had somehow avoided seeing one for so long, and the pure anger I got from seeing that, if you could’ve weaponized it, would’ve set that Tesla on fire. I would’ve given that smug jerkoff the bird if my dad wasn’t in the passenger’s seat.

Sorry, needed to get that off my chest, here's a gas sucking boattail Riv to balance it out.

I’m not trying to start an argument here, but I don’t understand what people have against Tesla. I mean, it’s not my cup of tea either, I definitely prefer a gas guzzling V8 myself. But the Model S is an engineering marvel. It really made a lot of headway for electric cars. Yeah, I’m sure some of the owners may think themselves high and mighty, and I’m not all about that, but the car itself, even if it’s not my type, is incredible.

Elon Musk is a brilliant man, and as the comparison has oft been noted, a real-life Tony Stark. He’s created something wonderful, and I just don’t think it deserves the hate. But either way, you’re welcome to your opinion.

It’s not that I have a problem with the car itself, I don’t like it, but I can admire it. It’s the owners, particularly, THESE owners. The people that have that same smug, self righteous, “my car is saving the planet” nonsense as early Prius adopters, but have the added benefit of the smugness that comes from a luxury car owner as well. If you want to buy a Tesla because you admire it as a technological masterpiece or because you like it as a car, I won’t hold it against you, but when you do stuff like this and buy it just so that you can make a political statement and make yourself seem "morally" superior, THAT's when I take issue.

That’s more reasonable. I can’t fault you for being against that. Someone in my town just recently purchased a P85D. Not sure who bought it, probably a doctor, but I hope they’re not like that. A car is a car is a car. Regardless of how its powered, or whether it puts emissions out or not, it’s still achieving the same purpose of any other car. Doesn’t make you better than anybody else, but sadly some don’t realize that.

Mmm, see, that Riviera sure looks nice...

I... *sigh*

I just wish it had an electric motor instead of that ancient boat anchor of an engine.

What a shame...

People focus too much on tailpipe emissions. The power from your wall comes from somewhere, usually by burning fossil fuel. That said, electric vehicles will be a part of the future weather we like it or not. Thank goodness we are seeing performance oriented ev’s entering the market. I love me some internal combustion, but I would drive the hell out of a Tesla.

You do realise that by getting mad at his “I have a zero emissions vehicle” attitude (which is a strange thing to get mad at in itself), you’re taking on the stance of “I have a combustion engine and am thus superior” attitude? It’s like getting mad at a stance guy, then driving away in a lifted diesel truck that rolls coal.

I hate Teslas as well. In my area you see them as often as Priuses, and it’s awful...so many rich wives driving them around to shuttle children, that or businessmen looking smug as you say...it’s not that it’s not an amazing car or anything, it just strikes me as pointing out the most egregious flaw in society. As far as I know, we have more than enough fuel for hundreds of years, it just keeps being BURNED UP IN F*CKING ELECTRICITY PLANTS . If power plants all went to something better or renewable we could drive our clean emissions dinosaur burners for as long as I care without this stupid fiasco. That’s just my take on the issue, I have no idea if powerplant fuels can even be refined for automotive usage, but logic is something that seems to be lacking today.
